Demographics: Elders in Massachusetts

Education

Educational attainment is strongly associated with economic security and health status in later life. On average, seniors who are more highly educated have better health and experience greater financial security. Most older people in the United States earned no more than a high school degree (about 55% in both Massachusetts and the United States), although Massachusetts seniors are somewhat more likely to have completed high school. More seniors in Massachusetts have also completed college with a bachelor's degree or more (17.7% in Massachusetts compared to 15.4% in the United States).
